Old City Hall in Leipzig

Altes Leipziger Rathaus

Designed by Richter Anker factory staff; built by George Hardy

(First shown on the January, 1997, web page.)

The 1913 (German language) Anchor catalog changed the illustrations from drawings to photographs.  One of the buildings illustrated was the Old Leipzig City Hall.  The original building is shown at the angle shown below; the Anchor stone reproduction is directly from the front.  A rear view was found in another publication from a later date.  I have built this exhibition quality building.

The front of the building.  The building in the catalog is one dormer wider, but my building table is not.

The rear view of the Old Leipzig City Hall.  The covered walk was very hard to build with such a small height for the shallow sloped roof -- from arch tops to the point below the windows where it meets the main building.

A close up of the central tower and the main entrance.  I used the window inserts from the Modern House Series (200 series), which limited my freedom when constructing this building but without these windows the building looked "bombed out".
