AV Mike Isheim's Version of the

Large Chateau in Plan Book for NF 30

By Mike Isheim

This is my version of the Large Chateau from the last set 28A.  I have made the following changes:

       1) I used many arches in place of square openings as I liked the look, and I wanted to use my #120, #163 and #171 stones,

       2) I built the Chateau on my stone platform using my #6 and #1528 stones, as I think the buildings look better than just building them on a table.

       3) I took your (GFH's) previous advice and used smaller stones to try to build a more elaborate stair case.  I tried many versions before settling on this one.  I like the look of the "fountains" built into the stairs.  I used some blue #108 stones for the inside of the openings behind the fountains.  This was the most enjoyable part for me.  For some reason I just enjoyed the creative process.

       4) I made many structural changes to the constructions not just because I have stones, but because I learned the hard way that when my two small girls play with my buildings, that what I build had better be able to stand up really well to table bumps!  I have no intention of telling them not to touch!  That would defeat the purpose of trying to encourage them to play and create with the stones.  I must say I had a hard time coming home one day last year and looking at a pile of rubble!  Do you remember that church you put on the your site last year? (Oct 2007) Well, because of the vaulting I did on the inside using my new #101a and #95a stones, the church did not survive a "bump" from a cousin. ( I almost killed that relative!)  Anyway, my church looked more like terrorist site, than a church.  The bummer was I had not had a chance to take pictures, so I had to rebuild the whole thing!  I learned 2 things.  Take pictures!  And build stronger whenever you can!

       5) I changed the left tall tower look a little just for fun, as I thought it looked a little plain.

       6) My girls added a few Christmas figures, and my wife got me some hobby trees for Christmas.  I like the trees!
