Altdeutsches Rathaus
The Anchor model "Altdeutsches Rathaus" was designed by Johannes Junge of Erlangen, Germany. It was expanded into its very impressive proportions, and pictures were published in the Anker Zeitung in 1924. Dr. Ernst Meyer-Margreth of Hamburg, Germany, built it again in 1977. In 2004 Leo Coffeng, Almen, Netherlands, built the model shown below. He took these pictures.

Note the vertical line. The wall is inclined to the outside. There
are several ways to deal with this problem. One is to make the wall
thicker, so that the outward building does not shift the center of gravity
enough to cause instability. Leo used weight on a wooden beam connecting
the two sides of the building -- thus balancing the outward forces. Well
done, Leo!

Leo Coffeng and Ad van Selms share a laugh -- from the February 2004 web
page.
It is with great sadness that I must report that Leo died on November 23,
2004. He sent me the pictures of the "Altdeutsches Rathaus" just a
few days prior to his death.
Leo had had severe heart problems for years. During this visit to
Rudolstadt Leo told me that he had had his next-to-last heart attack.
As you can see, Leo did not let this knowledge cast a shadow over his
life.
