St. Maur les Fosses
by AV Tim Fullam, Juneau, Alaska

The first two pictures are the overall view and the engraving which Tim used as his "building plan".  Of course the engraving does not show all sides, so Tim had to design much of the structure.  From here on, the comments are Tim's own, for which I thank him.

The whole model is about 90 cm long, 60 cm high, and about 44 cm wide at the widest point.

The left end of the building (as seen in the original engraving) seemed most straightforward, so I pretty much built it completely before adding on the right end of the building.

Shows interior structure to support the tower. This was taken before I decided to add an octagonal tower on the back side of the building (the side not visible in the engraving). The long sloping roof extending down from the tower was very narrow and looked odd. The tower seemed to break it up some, even though the tower seems more in keeping with a fortress than a church. Had to do the octagonal structures in R stones, as I don't have enough G's of the right sort.

Shows the area under the eaves of the upper part of the roof on the left end of the building. I used the 224G stones (from the Great Castle supplement set) along with the 218G's.

Octagonal tower under way. Also shows the strange offset of the main tower wall. This offset is barely visible in the photo of the engraving, but you can just see it to the left of that odd "bump-out" (which I omitted) on the main tower.

Detail of intersection of octagonal tower and sloping roof.

Detail of roof.

I had to shorten the right end of the building, because I ran out of table space.

More invention on the engraving's non-visible side of the building.
