Achatiuskappelle in Grünsfeldhausen, Bavaria

Southwest of Würzburg, on the way to Tauberbischofsheim (E41), just off the highway, is the village of Grünsfeldhausen . The sign was one of those small brown "cultural interest" signs.  So I found Achatiuskappelle.  It is a fascinating structure.  It is quite small; the chapel designation is correct.  The first time I visited it, no one was there.  Just an open church.  (Not all that common today.  Es tut mir leid.)  Tours are available now.  I photographed it so I would have enough pictures to build it.  But my three starts have been frustrated.  I have not even settled on a scale.  What do you think about this project?  Would you try it?

This picture was found on the Internet -- the only one I found there.

The chapel is below grade, as you approach it.

The stairs down to the entrance.

The retaining wall continues around the chapel, making an overall photograph difficult.

A very interesting tower.  Note the clock -- in Anchor red!

The interior, which is very plain.
