Personal Designs
from (often by) Wolfgang Reinhardt, Bretten-Ruit, Germany.

For almost ten years Wolfgang Reinhardt has been publishing in each issue of the CVA's MLB (newsletter) two of the designs from his "Catalog of Personal Designs".  Now the Internet "presents" two of them.

Driving along the coast of the Adriatic Sea, north of Split (yes, Germans still vacation in the former Yugoslavia), he noticed this beautiful tower.  That part of the coast, as does much of the Italian coast, has a large number of towers, mainly to give warning and protection from raiders from North Africa.  Today it is a restaurant, and the Reinhardt family ate at one of the tables.

AV Reinhardt always builds from specific sets.  This model was built from a #34, Lyck.

During his visit to the small town of Lauenburg on the Elbe, AV Reinhardt was struck by the "Anchor-ness" of the Magdalena Church.  He loved the all-red facade.

This reproduction was made with a large inventory of stones -- sets #s NF-34 + DS-25A + AF-23A.  Note the interesting detailing above the entrance.  This is a large building -- 62.5 cm long.  The church is massive and wood beams are necessary.

AV Bruckmann also built a version of the church.  He did not restrict himself to stones from specific sets; thus he was able to use roof stones with a slope of other than 45°.  The use of 64° (the # 225 series) stones makes the steeple much more attractive and true-to-life.  The new slope also provides enough room to include the clocks.
